Gordon J S Lindhorst

Gordon Lindhorst has a general civil practice with particular emphases in commercial law, employment law, property law and personal injuries. He is a reporter for the official Scottish law reports, Session Cases.

Prior to calling to the Scottish bar, Gordon trained as a solicitor with a well-established WS firm in Edinburgh and studied law on the continent. His LLM studies included European commercial law, copyright law and church law.

In 2008 Gordon qualified as a barrister in England and is a practising door tenant of Dere Street Barristers in York and Newcastle.

  • McKindless Group v McLaughlin  UKEAT/0010/08; [2008] IRLR 678 (Employment Appeal Tribunal, successful appeal on statutory definition of uplifts)
  • Gillies v Lynch 2006 RepLR 138 (Civil jury, largest damages award in respect of loss of society of child)
  • Nelson v Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive 2005 CSOH 62; 2006 SLT 157; 2006 SCLR 235; GWD 38-700 (Outer House, application for judicial review by bus operator of refusal to make concessionary travel compensation payments)

CRIMINAL PRACTICE

Gordon has defended and prosecuted in the Sheriff Court and the High Court with a particular interest in drugs, fraud and money laundering offences. He was appointed an ad hoc Advocate Depute in 2009.
